3D scanning for 3D printing innovations
The reasons to scan tools, products or parts vary. One of those reasons for 3D scanning and subsequently 3D printing using the 3D CAD-model is to avoid long waiting and delivery times. But 3D scanning is also used when drawings are unavailable, yet the product needs to be optimized or innovated and, therefore, back to the drawing table.
SSEB makes 3D scans of large, small, complicated and simple products. Next, the scanned data is converted to a 3D CAD-model. In a number of cases the scan will require post-processing. 3D scanning is not as easy as it seems. To get a solid file, the product must be scanned from all sides, without movement. The 3D CAD-model can then be further developed and used to drive the SSEB 3D metal printer.
